Chicago, April 30 - The Airlift Ideas 3 rd Annual Marketing Award at Columbia College Chicago presented $5,000 in award scholarships to Mayowa Osinubi and Krizia Isel Cardoso. Both students were selected from a pool of innovative marketing plans on themes of the upcoming presidential elections and Chicago's Olympic bid. The students were awarded at a ceremony at Columbia College on April 30. Marlena Peleo-Lazar, Chief Creative Officer of McDonald's Corporation, was the keynote speaker and gave students a first hand look at the power of McDonald's Corporation brand mark.

"It's inspiring to see major players in the competitive branding industry invest in tomorrow's creative and strategic leaders," said Michael Swidler, Director of Marketing Studies, Marketing Communication Department, Columbia College Chicago. "And the continued support from firms of all sizes, including Airlift Ideas' dedication to students, shows promise for Chicago's future creative leaders."
The entries were judged by a panel of seasoned marketing professionals and were based on content, and thought leadership of the strategic concepts. In addition, a story board was also presented with each entry. An independent panel of marketing communications professionals judged the entries.
"The purpose of the Airlift Ideas marketing scholarships is to get students excited about careers in marketing early" said Shelley Rosen, chief executive officer of Airlift Ideas, Inc. "We see the awards program as a way of investing in tomorrow's creative leaders." Rosen is a four-year trustee for Columbia College.

Mayowa Osinubi, a sophomore in marketing/public relations from Boston was selected as the "Get Out and Vote" winner. Her strategic campaign concept of "Get Behind the Curtain!" focused on how to get more college students to vote especially at Columbia. The school is currently reviewing plans to set up mock voting booths around campus with key political issues and information to get students excited about voting in this year's election. Her concept will be featured on Columbia College campus in Fall 2008.
Krizia Isel Cardoso, a senior in marketing from Miami was selected as the "Get in Shape" winner. Her campaign if Chicago should be selected as the 2016 Olympic site would focus on building excitement around the games. The other key component was to tie-in how to motivate fitness activity of Chicagoans. Cardoso's campaign focused on the qualities of the 12 Greek Olympians and the different aspect of life the gods represent to promote healthier lifestyles. Cardoso's ideas will be presented to the Office of 2016 for future planning.
